What’s Down The Road Penn & Teller – Fool Us?

In the first series, it was nimbly hosted by Jonathan Ross, and the second and third seasons from that point on were presented with Fool Us Hostess Alyson.

Each episode starts off with the introduction stating the reason for the series. Penn & Teller come out and sit down at the center stage. They watch eager magicians will perform their magic before them, in front of an audience in the studio. What’s Next for Penn and Teller: Fool Us?

Fool Us was filmed at Fountain Studios in London, England (season one) and at the Penn and Teller Theater in Las Vegas (season two onward). After each performance, when Penn & Teller cannot figure out how the trick was accomplished, the magician(s) who performed it get the Fool Us trophy and a five-star flight to Las Vegas to perform as the opening act for the show of Penn & Teller, also at the Rio Hotel & Casino.

The fifth season began on October 6, 2021.

Teller states that doublespeak is a way to teach people new tricks without compromising the trick. In the event that Penn & Teller are wrong, or cannot come up with how the trick was done, the magician is awarded the Fool Us trophy and the opportunity to later perform at one of Penn & Teller’s Las Vegas shows. A backstage judge who is knowledgeable about the techniques of the magic business and intimately aware of how the trick is performed prior to the show, makes necessary calls whether Penn & Teller were properly fooled. In the final moments of every program, Penn & Teller perform a magic act of their own.

In the initial season, Jonathan Ross served as a temporary substitute for Penn and Teller’s hosting duties, but they returned for the second season.

The film was shot on Fountain Studios in London, England during its initial season, before moving to Penn & Teller Theater in Las Vegas, Nevada for its second and subsequent seasons.

The magicians performing tricks in Penn & Teller “Fool Us” are generally accomplished sleight-of-hand artists and illusionists. They usually make it more difficult to understand how they pull off their trick by performing the trick in complete darkness or creating distraction through conversation or sound effects.

While they are silent and in motion throughout the duration in the production, the veteran duo of Penn and Teller can communicate with each by making subtle gestures. They also may communicate with the magician who performs and ask for them to repeat a specific action or provide more information.

As of 2018, Penn and Teller have published books on deception, created instructional videos on card technique, and performed a show titled Penn and Teller: We are Fooled. Us.
